Brought these for Grandson’s Birthday’s, ages 7 and 9. The 9 year old took to it like a pro and was absolutely elated. However, the 7 year old, after being told how everything worked, got on it and crashed immediately. He would not get on it again. We were staying with the boys one day last week (it had been a month since this incident had occurred) we bribed our grandson with and one hour play time on his i-pad if he would ride the scooter. He was sure he was going to get hurt but took up the challenge. We really explained the throttle to him in great, great detail. Off he went, no accidents, and now he is riding all over the neighborhood with his brother. Was so proud to show his mom when she got home from work. So if buying for a younger child may take a little more explaining.
